When the Fire Extinguishing System Goes Off at an Air Force Base
The sparks from a welding set have triggered the automatic fire extinguishing system in one of the hangars at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. Its foam almost completely covered the jet fighters that were in the building. But when the value of the items in the hangar exceeds probably a billion dollars – foam away!!!!
Approximately 110 gallons of biodegradable foam poured from the ceiling of King Hangar at Eglin Air Force Base during the final test of the new fire suppression system. It took only two minutes for the 24 foam generators to fill the 90,000 square foot hangar with more than three feet of foam.
